END OF THE MONTH REPORT!!

Well, fellow, quilter's and stitchers, how did your project list for March come out???/ I have to say I really am amazed with myself--it seems every time I take the time to make a list of "goals" that when I get into trouble and nothing gets done---BUT THIS MONTH SOMETHING GREAT HAPPENED---I was only short on my March's list by one Orchid applique block--but I already have one set of bom's done for April and that is my Quilt club ones!!!!
Here's a picture of one of those blocks--already posted the 30's one--
Tomorrow I will add my April goals list -- I do have it fairly written out, but need to check it over first to see if I have everything I want to do--or maybe to see if I have too much on it--I can think BIG sometimes when it comes to quilt projects as there are so many I want to do??????

Here's an Easter Picture for you:
I picked up this rabbit in a Dollar store a couple years ago and so far--everytime I elected to get rid of some of my "stuff"--he has been "saved"--he's plain , but he has personality to me???
Happy April 1st ---- I wish you all sunshine---Just Di

March is marching on!!!!

Well, bloggers, March is nearly over--how are we all doing on our March Project List?????? I am surprised in myself, actually--but more about that tomorrow, on report day???? I was thinking I did not have anything to show, that I had finished lately, then I did remember a block awaiting ironing on the ironingboard to have her photo taken so I went in and did that and here it is:
This is the second block I have finished for the Orchid Blocks I am doing-it's all needle-turn applique--and it's really the first project where I am using all Baltic type fabrics--I really like both blocks so far!!
Happy stitching this week--Hugs, Di

SATURDAY--A bright Sunny Day!!

It was a nice warm bright sunny day with alot of interruptions again--same as for yesterday--so did not get alot of quilting finished--here's the block I did get done:

This was a very simple block and went together like a dream--In quilt club she also gave us a pattern and a demo on a little fabric basket, that she called a thread wastebasket for your sewing machine or to take to class--I got one of them made:

I think I will be making some more of these and filling them with Easter grass and some treats for some of my friends for Easter--you should of seen me yesterday, trying to make this--it is laid our like a windmill with the 4 strips of fabrics and then another 4 strips on those--well after I got it all sewed I had all "4 arms", but I knew right off, I had made a BOO-BOO--I did some thinking and some twisting and turning until I figured out what when wrong--I was able to fix it without having to rip out much?????

WELL THERE IS ONLY 14 DAYS TO EASTER--SOOO WE NEED TO GET BUSY ON ALL THOSE EASTER CRAFTS THAT ARE ON OUR "TO DO LISTS"--how are you coming on your lists???????
HAPPY SUNSHINE--EVERYONE--JUST, DI

THURSDAY--update!!

It was a "wet-dreary" day here in NY--but I can quilt in anykind of weather--so--Here's a picture of one more embroidery piece that I finished the embroidery on--now to decide how I want to finish it and if it will be a gift or for me???????????

I found this pattern in one of my Country Threads Magazines from AU and knew that I just had to do it some day--the cats and the angel are all done in a navy emb thread and stars I did in a gold variegated thread as I had run out of the blue, but I believe it really made the design come alive.

This afternoon I went to my local quilt shop for our Quilt Club meeting and got the next pattern and fabric for that block. We always have show and tell and you get to see some neat things--and would you believe I left my new digital camera at home????? OH, well, there's next month!!!!!

Happy Stitching--What are you working on today???? Busy fingers--Di

WEDNESDAY--Update!!

Well, it's mid week, and how is everyone doing on their project list for the week?????

I did get two projects finished--the first is another block to the Gardner's Journal:

and Anni is telling us to be sure and take time out from our stitching long enough to smell the roses!!
My second finish was my Underground Railroad quilt; I did the top in a class and we made the blocks just 6"--the best part of this quilt is that I used some old fabrics that a friend gave me after I finished putting together a quilt she had started 20 years ago--then she had a stroke and couldn't finish it--so I kept the scraps and looked for the perfect project to use them in and when this class came up it was "perfect" as my friends was also a sampler quilt. Now the first block doesn't normally go on the Underground quilts--that one I designed to remind me of my friend and the fact that she had one on her quilt:

And just for the fun of it--here is a picture of an Easter craft that I made many years ago--it has really held up good as it has a lot of moves (miles) it has traveled through--again this is something that I designed:
Happy Day to everyone! Blessings--Di

I am really enjoying making these birdhouses and so far I like my 'bright & wild colored" background--What do you think???
I also got one 6 inch block appliqued for my local quilt club block and the second one is all ready to start the applique on and I am working on another block for the Gardner's Journal quilt--SO I am keeping busy!!! Will be lots of pictures on today's post over on my other blog!!!

National Quilting Day!!

Happy National Quilting Day to everyone!! I finally got to do a project today that I have wanted to do since last Dec and that was to put together my blocks from last years quilt club??? I was worried there for awhile as I didn't think the rows where coming out correctly--but it all worked out ok---
Here's what the first pile of blocks looked like:
I just loved working on these last year--we got a fabric packet each month and the pattern--every ones was the same fabric--but some of us didn't use all the ones they gave us and then used other colors--I used some blacks--as my border fabric that I picked out has a tiny black dot in it.

In this picture is the fabrics for the lattice, background for the vines, first border and the outer border.

OH LOOK here's a nice mornings work in picture form!!!
It is a little brighter in real life--I really do like the way it is coming out--I got one more step done on this today------

And here you can see the vine pinned on it--there's alittle more to applique on besides the vine--then I will sew on the 2 outer borders and it will be picture time again for this quilt top!!!

I also got another stitchery block done on the Gardeners Journal blocks:

And I got another Birdhouse block appliqued--but that will wait for it's picture for another day.

WELL< Happy stitching this weekend-----------Just, Di

March 14--update!!

Today was somewhat productive--yet frustrating!!!! Before bed last night I got another birdhouse block all appliqued, and this morning I worked on block #3, then after seeing my friend Mary, I went to the sewing room and re cut out the pieces for the picket fence from last months block from Harmony Village, as we had decided that last months measurement were wrong and it was way too big--then I cut out and sewed this months block, a tall green tree--12x24--yep, that's a big tree!!! Then I went to redo the picket fence, only to learn that I had cut the pieces out in reverse, so had to do them again--I did get them sewed--but--not very even, so I really need to take them apart and redo them--but, have decided to wait awhile to see which "set" of picket fences is the "real" size for this quilt!!!!
