A BOM block done!

I worked on an applique block for one of my BOM's last night after I got off the computer--took me 3 hours to do it--but one more is done--YES!!! Here it is in all it's glory:
This one is for the "Village Garden" quilt top from My Quilt Village shop--I am getting "wild" on this one for me any way--now I can show you a really wild one:
We had Quilt Club today and this was one of the show and tells there--I like alot of these fabrics--so don't get me wrong here--but I could not handle them all together like this--it makes my "eyes" go crazy--I would of had to had added some solid lattice in between the blocks or something--but I know alot of people like this look--I keepppp trying--but soooo far?????

You won't believe what I did---I run off two more BOM's last night to add to my list--I think--both look real easy--one is applique and embroidery by Elefantz and is called "Shabby Roses" so me and so cute---the second one is called "Stingy Bark Farm" and is by Missy Mack and her first block is a real cutey named Rusty!!! Oh I forgot I did add their blogs to my list on the side bar so link up and take a look!!! I will have some more quilt show and tells on my other blogsite today--so "pop" over there and have a lookie see!!!!

Till tomorrow--happy stitching--Just, Di

More Redwork!!

This picture I got on my walk over to do my eye appointment today--they where growing along this lady's hedgerow--I love wild violets--don't you???

Between last night and then more this morning I got some more of the Redwork blocks done, plus I now have them all traced to sew--I am running out of the right number of red embroidery floss, but I will be going to the Quilt shop tomorrow for Quilt Club and can get another skein there!! here is the newest blocks I have gotten stitched:
And here is a picture of the hardest one in this batch??
This is just a simple wreath using back-stitches, lazy daisy's and french knots--right--right!! But the "fun" part was figuring out which of the three stitches i needed to embroider where???? So this one of those blocks that you really had to keep marking off each small part of the pattern on the pattern sheet as you stitched it--I really like this block it looks soooo country to me--am thinking of doing one for myself --can't decide though whet er to do it in the red work or maybe in black and then put it in a little frame!!!

Happy Day to everyone--keep on quilting and creating those projects--oh, dear talking about projects tomorrow is the last day of April and it is time to do my --did I meet my goals list for the monty--it will be OUCH time for me this time???? Just, Di

Redwork

I actually got some of the redwork Christmas pattern blocks transferred and 3 of the blocks are stitched and I am on the 4th one.
The pattern is called--Winter Memories--and is by the Acorn quilt and Gift co. and this is also for the local quilt shop for a model--had been tempted to do some of my own work--but decided to keep going on the shop models, first!!!

Today was my friend Ann's day to come--she comes every Tues and we stitch--sometimes for a couple hours, sometimes less and then we go and do errands and go to lunch. Today she took me to town to a furniture store and I let her pick out a new chair for her to sit in when she comes to sew, and she picked out a real comfortable one--in fact I may get 2 of them for my living room--haven't totally decided yet--the chair is a glider one, but you would not know it to look at it--and we did find some fabric that is nearly all cotton, as I have a problem with polyester --so I am excited about it--now if one of the checks would get here that I am suppose to be getting!!!!!!
We also stopped by her house on the way and I got some pictures of her tulips--she has "tons" of them in all kinds of colors and styles--PRETTY

Take a break--fix some ice tea and stitch alittle while with me--Just, Di

It's not Cool!!!

We New Yorker's are having a "Heat wave" the last couple of days--temp has been 90 degrees--I do dislike it when you wait soooo long for nice warm weather--and then you get it---only it's tooooo hot yet!!!! Oh Well!!

I had just picked up a quilt to quilt on when the phone rang and that ended my sewing for the most part today--Late this afternoon I did get some of the redwork designs transferred on to the fabric and I even got one snow flake all stitched--hurrah for me???? (this is another pattern for a model for my local quilt shop)
But here is a colorful picture from nature with aliitle help from me?????

See ya tomorrow--Happy stitching in the meantime--Hugs, Di

Joined another "challenge"?

I think I did it again--got myself into another "challenge"--this one has to do with the pattern from Melly and Me and is the Mrs Perkins pattern--now I do not have any "little" ones to make this pattern for--but in looking for fabrics for "her" I ended up with not one set--but 2 sets of great fabrics to make her for --MYSELF-- yep--gonna make her for me and I know for sure where I am going to display the blue one--haven't totally decided on the brown one yet--mainly because in the next couple months I will be redoing my apartment--so we will see????? Here is my fabrics:
Now are these not beautiful--fun fabrics for a Mrs Perkins??????
I got my info from "A House in the Country" site and she is listed over on the quilting is blissful site of mine--but I will also "pop" over there and get more details to post here tomorrow--so stayed tuned in!!!!! And now I will share a picture of my garden:
My tulips are all ready to "pop" open--they should be there in next day or two--I will have the camera ready!!!!!
Take Care----Just, Di

SUNSHINE!!

Sorry about not posting yesterday--I tried to, after looking up some things on the Internet--but for some reason the computer would not let me on to my IGoogle page so I could--mean thing!!! I have not gotten alot of work done last couple of days either--but this morning I was able to get the vine appliqued on the quilt club quilt from last year: now I have to cut leaves and hearts out to applique onto the vines:
I really love the colors in this quilt--and it will go really well--I hope--in my bedroom when I get it all redone--trying to decide how to organize it and what new pieces of furniture to get is hard, because of my health issues I have to consider every thing--what type of wood, paint, finish, etc is used on each thing -- oh what fun?????????

Have a great Stitchy weekend---Hugs, Di

And here is another panel of the words:
AND here is just a pretty picture from my garden:
I just love these flowers--but can not bring them inside--plus they look so pretty outside!!!!

Take care and happy stitching ---Just, Di

One section done!!!

Well, I did get one of the sections all embroidered--the pattern has you use different colors of tans and beige's for the backgrounds, so the Shop gave 3 different fabric pieces and I divided up the squares to be embroidered and have left lots of space for the quilter to cut them apart to sew into the quilt blocks as she makes the quilt:
I wished I knew why these pictures always look like they have not been ironed--cause I always iron them nice and flat--must be the camera--I couldn't be the one at fault?????
I do have the second set--started--but just barely--Life keep getting in my way every day--oh well--maybe tomorrow--tomorrow----!!!!!

Take care--seeya on Tuesday--Hugs--Di

Sunny Saturday---But????

It was sunny for the most part today and warm--but I can tell--it won't last long??? I did get some embroidery work done today--only went to Library and store == rest of time I was with needle and thread--that is until I lost the needle!!!!!
Here's the pattern I am working on for the quilt shop, as a sample:
And here is what the first piece with 3 of the sections started--please don't look at the wrinkles-didn't dare iron it til I am all finished with the stitching????
And now I do have even more done on this since the picture--BUT--it's not done YET!!!!

Have a great Sunday---Blessings--Di

It's Friday!!

Well, another week-end is fast approaching us again--I have had a busy week, but not in the way that I needed it to be busy???? I needed to get alot--and I mean alot of sewing done--but--that did not happen--even though I did get some done--so I guess I need to be grateful for that--and my sister has been here 3 days this week helping me spring clean and declutter--( I sort out what I think I can do without and then discover some of it is in her pile to take home--yet she still thinks I have "too" much stuff"--I keep telling her, I don't have too much stuff--I just have too little of space to put my "stuff"!!!!!
Here is a picture of "spring" though, from this morning:
Have a great weekend--see ya tomorrow--Just, Di

Another BOM finished for April!!

Hi--everybody--I did get the 2 butterfly blocks appliqued for the Friendship garden quilt, in between everything else--
I got "adventurous" and used a large flower for fussing cutting the wings on the butterfly's I like the way the one on the right came out!! And may redo the left one--but first I have had that piece to fussy cut the flowers for another of "my" brain storm projects--so I need to get them cut out--then we will see????

Did alittle more on the embroidery project--but my sister was here for awhile and she is helping me spring clean--sort out--and rearrange some things--soooo????

Take care--enjoy Friday as I think we are all suppose to have good weather????

APRON FINISH !!!!!!!

I did it--got up this morning and decided today was the day----to make my apron for the "tie one on" challenge and by golly I got it all done--even went down and got my friend her tea and helped her solve "Matlock's murder case"??? OK I know you just want to see the pictures--

Here is the beginnings of the project:
Here is a good look at the fabric and the design on it:
Here's a Look at the pockets and what I did--I added a row of old daisy's to each pocket on top of the black bias binding I made:

Here on the shoulder strap I added 3 daisy's for trim:

So are you ready to see the full view????????????
Well, It's the back view--anyway--that's important too--isn't it????? OK--Here is the front!!
And here it is hanging in my kitchen:
As you can see

--I already have 2 old aprons hanging on the pegs behind it--one on the right has a design done in what is called the "chicken" scratch and the one on the left is one done in cross stitch design of a rooster.
So this was my main job today--did do alittle applique earlier in morning and did some embroidery work late this afternoon.

For those of you who may be new to this post--the "Tie one on" challenge is from the Angry Chicken blog site and this times challenge was to use what we had and not to buy ANYTHING new to do it--I found an old-old pattern of my Mom's, some of her vintage fabric and the daisy trim is old--the only newer item was the black fabric for the bias trim--but I even had that in my stash--so everything I used was from my stash--I really enjoyed this project--My Mom got this pattern through the mail when postage was only 1 cent-so it is over 60 years old!!!!!

Have a good day tomorrow--stitch--stitch--stitch---Just Di

GOOD FRIDAY

I have to say I was just a little "tired" today, from all the classes and excitement of last 2 days!!! I did finish my last Bliss block late last night:
I do believe this is the prettiest one I have done--and the design is so "neat"--now I have to decide how I am going to put all 7 blocks together by May's class--there are a couple different options that we have to pick from????

Today, I spent the most part of it on tracing embroidery designs onto the fabrics for some of my BOM clubs and some for my local quilt shop. Also went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping, wanted the newest "American patchwork & Quilting magazine, so I could read about Anne, and see pictures of her workstudio, from Bunny Hill and she has a pattern in it too--so--be sure to check it out, quilters?????

Here's to a great week-end with family and friends, and please remember "why" we have an Easter Week-end to begin with--------------Blessings to all--Di

Another Bliss Class!!

Today I had another Bliss class and we had a lot of fun as usual--and we all ate our share of Sharon's M&M's she brings for us to enjoy--Thank You Sharon!! Last night I got yesterday's Bliss block done:
This Pattern is called "Morning Star"--(Sharon aren't you proud of me--I included the name!!)
I still need to finish alittle on todays block--so will show you that one tomorrow!!!

Sharon also told us and showed us some of the classes she has planned for the Fall--I AM IN TROUBLE HERE--QUILTERS--CAUSE I WANT TO TAKE THEM ALLLLLL!!!!!!

I also got my shell purse sewed together--I just need to find the right beads and buttons for the handle part:
Can you tell I love pink--want most of my "summer" clothes to be pink--only one problem with that, this year pink is not "in"--so I am not having luck finding much--Oh Well!!!!

Be good--keep at those Easter projects--only 2 days to finish them!!!! Cheers--Di

A FINISHED PROJECT!!

I have block # 4 of "A Tisket, A Tasket" not only all appliqued like I showed you, yesterday---BUT, I have decided to finish each block off into a door hanging for my front door. I just thought this one was so "Eastery" and I wanted something new on the door and then I also realized that I really have alot of quilts --in progress--some the tops are all done, waiting to be quilted, some are in block form, waiting to be put together, some are in the beginning or inbetween stages to be finished in to blocks, to be made into quilts, and some are in the bom program--sooo--there are lots of possible quilts in progress--so if I make each one of the Tisket/Tasket blocks into monthly door hangers I will feel better about myself (and there are a couple new groups of fabrics out there I like and I just might be "temped" to start, yet, another quilt top?????)
I also had the privilege of being in the Bliss class all by myself today at the Quilt shop--what an honor to have Sharon Stroud all to myself for the afternoon. And yes I did get some stitching done today--it is a hand piecing class and I was a block behind from being sick in the winter, so was attending her 1st week Bliss class to get caught up--only she had to change the day and the week for it--so none of the other gals must of been able to come--soooo!!! And if all goes well I will be going back tomorrow for the regular class of Bliss that I am in and then I will be all caught up!!! Course that Sharon, she was a tease today--kept talking about some of the classes she is planning on giving this summer??????

Happy Day---Keep Warm if you live in New York?????? Hugs, Di
PS My wallet will be in trouble tomorrow when I go, cause my Quilt shop if have a Fat Quarter sale--?????

A BLOCK IS DONE

Well--I did get one block all appliqued--the "A tisket- A tasket" block:
I really enjoy doing all my BOM's of the month--this one I always seem to want to first--and with it being an Easter theme, I just had to do it--now tomorrow I hope I have a "surprise" for you!!! So stay tuned in???????
Happy Easter Week--How many chocolate rabbits did you buy so far:
I bought "3" today--but---I won't eat them as they are milk chocolate and I only eat dark chocolate--they are for gifts!!!!
Blessings--Di

IT'S MONDAY!!!!

We all got one week to finish those last minute Easter projects--and for those of us who are doing the Tisket-Tasket block--it's a great Easter project and I nearly have mine done--that was my main goal today and finishing up my homework for Wed.'s Bliss class--Bliss is done and I only have the little chick to applique done and the bow at the top of the basket to do and it is done and I will enjoy it for Easter this year!!
Year's ago--and I mean year's ago, my mom and I belonged to craft kit a month club, and they sent you everything in the mail to make a craft--we would even get little packettes of glue to use!!! This is a picture of an egg we each made that year and painted--those where the "good-ole days"?????
The top part came off and this is what I believe we got to put inside it??
And as you can see when the top is on it there is a clear plastic dome so you can see the little bunny inside--how cute it that???? I just wished I knew what year we did these???
Happy Easter count down--Blessings--Di

Two in progress !!

Here's a picture of the new purse from Homespun mag. that is in progress:
I went to Wal-mart today looking for pink beads to make the handle/necklace--what a "circus" that was--they are redoing our store once AGAIN so it is all mixed up and the craft stuff is in a couple different places and I do believe pink is not the color right now???? Maybe I will get to go someplace else this week and I can look for some!!!

Here's another peek at a project in progress that got some work done on it today:
this is the beginning of my "tie one on" entry--got the apron itself cut out today and the black fabric is for the binding and I got that cut in the strips--now to find time to sew it-- I have 26 days left to finish it???????

Hope you are having some fun this week=end???? Our winter is back tonight!!!!! Di

Sunny Day!!

I did get another block done for the "Gardener's Journal" project and started the house block while waiting in the Dr. office! And best of all yesterday and today I talked to Anni Down's the designer and author by email for the Gardener's Journal--Her Company's name is Hatched and Patched--such a cute name--and she does great country designs--you can connect to her link on My quilting is blissful site!
I also got one side all done for the shell purse I am doing and I got one more block hand quilted on the quilt that is in the quilt frame--and as I was in alot of pain today, I am happy to have gotten this much done--oh, and I did get some more applique done on last years quilt club top!!

I also went out side for a check on the flower gardens and look what I found:
It was the prefect day to take their picture as they are just at the peak of blooming. We only have a few of these under one tree here at the Jefferson--but you wait until the tulips are in bloom--I have lots of them in 3 different gardens around here!!

Have a great spring day--remember to enjoy each day!!

Just a stitchin== Di

April 1st -- New beginnings!!!

Well, quilters and stitchers and knitters and crafters--we got a whole new month to work on our projects and to hopefully finish some of them--plus the fun part of buying supplies for more new projects for the future!!!
Today I found the fabrics for the shell purse and got the front and the back strips machine sewed, now I am doing the embroidery work on the strips--this pattern is from the Homespun Magazine: Opps thought I had a picture of the Magazine pattern to show--there is one over on my other Blog site--So check there to see it, OK??
I do have a picture of the first thing I think I ever made without someone else's pattern, and that is this little felt bear. He is quite "old" really--probably around 30 or so--see I was into felt way before it became so popular--!!!!
Have a great Day--Smiling--Di
