Finally--sorta--started---

I do believe that I am finally ready to start the Shabby Rose blocks--I seem to have taken a long time deciding on the fabric and getting my freezer paper patterns cut out--but just maybe I am ready to actually start them sometime this week??????

I did redo the Fred the rooster block from the Stringybark Farm Block --here is a look at the before photo first:
And here is the new one:
This is more me!!!!!
I also worked some more on this applique today:
This is another Bali Orchard block--I now need to put the 3 flowers on it--this one had bright yellow flowers.

See you on Monday--hopefully--can't believe it but they are calling for a frost tonight?????

A Day Late!!!

Like always, I am a day late -- here is the picture I was suppose to take yesterday and post with yesterdays achievements--sooooo without further to-do:
I got the Christmas Mice hanging all done--even the binding!!! (sorry the picture looks puffy here, but it is not that way in real life--I just love it--it's different--Pattern is one of the Cinderberry collection.

Today I just worked on an applique project and on the embroidery for the shop model. Did take a walk outside late this afternoon and got some neat flower pictures--some will be posted here and some over on the blissful site.
How do you like this BIG poppy in front of the purple iris's???
And this plant is Hummingbird "food" and is hung near my feeder in the same tree!!!

Have a great Week-end with family and friends and don't forget to put in a "couple "stitches in a project here and there!!!! Blessings--Just, Di

Beginning to End----

I actually did a whole project--from Beginning to the finishing all with in this past month and it is a Christmas project to "boot"!!!! Now that is progress--ah--even if it is just a wall or door hanging--It is even quilted and got the binding all on it--sooooo---BUT no picture tonight--The funny part is I worked really hard last couple of days to get all completely done for our Quilt clubs Show and Tell today--only I was "under the weather" today so was not able to go--but it is still all done----SO good for me. And remember yesterday I also got the beaded purse done for the show and tell!!

Today I worked on embroidering the outer border for a shop model and finally started another one of my Bali Orchard applique blocks--#3--I am behind on them--oh my!!! Maybe instead of getting the 6 blocks done in 6 months--I will say it's another year long bom project---I'm BAD????

Here's a quilt from last month's quilt club--this is a shop model and I have already gotten the pattern--but it is paper piecing and that is not one of my favorite ways to quilt--but it is really a very beautiful quilt and I am collecting fabrics for it!!

Take Care and don't poke yourself with the needle?????? Hugs, Di

BUSY FINGERS!!

WELL, I was in a stitchery "mood" all day yesterday and into the evening--Plus we got some much needed rain last evening and I love to sit and stitch and listen to it rain--so that's where I was -- And here are some pictures to prove what I got done last night and then did the border's on today:
Block 1 and then:
Block 2 of the Stringybark Farm by MissyMack--I just love doing both of these blocks, but I am not sure I am happy with the outer border on the Fred the Rooster Block--so I will probably change it?????
And after having started this purse project from the Homespun Mag I finally got around and got it finished today:
I sure bought enough different kinds of beads to do handle with--I started with the button strip first and am so glad I did--I did not realize how much extra wire they took up making the handle shorter than I had planned, but it will be ok and from that I was able to make the other 2 strings the same size as the button one--Now me and Miss Purse are all ready to go shopping--OH DEAR--I nearly forgot--NO MONEY--well, maybe I will come across some $$$ next week and I can take Miss Purse shopping!!!!!

I also nearly have another project done--that's tomorrows post?????

Take Care--stay dry and happy stitching---Busy fingers--Di

YES!!! more finishes

I was able to get some more block of the month--blocks done today--after all it is nearly the 1st of June and we will be getting the new blocks-- so:
This a block for the Village Garden -- this one I am doing all in dots and stripe fabrics--thinking outside that "box":
This block is for my local quilt shop's block of month--it is 6 1/2" square-- and it took a couple tries before I got it right--it was one of those days where I kept picking up the pieces wrong and sewing them together wrong--but I am really good with that "seam ripper"!!!!
This is one from the Birdhouse BOM's--I just love birdhouses and applique so this one is fun:
And this is an applique row of strawberries for the Friendship garden BOM, it was fun too to do:
And this is Block 3 of "On My Heart" by Tozz that I just joined and I am happy to say I am caught up to date on the series.

I have two more BOM;s yet to do and there is 2 blocks to each of them--that's tomorrow's plan---but would you believe that I am considering doing the the Calander bom's by Elliesquiltsplace?????? I either really like to quilt or I am a bit on the "crazy" side--I still have Shabby Rose blocks to make (all 3) and the Breast of Friends Blocks yet to start????? And then there is some other in progress projects that need some work on before they decide to run away and join the Quilt Convent--or something!!!!!

Be a Stitching--keep your eyes on the goal and out of the quilt magazines!!!! Happy Day--Di

Alittle work got done!!!

I did get some work done today--even though the phone got me out of bed with a "plea" to take in a stray cat????? That is not really how I want to start off a Sunday morning--I still don't know if I would like a little dog or a cat or none yet????

Let's see I got Mrs. Perkins cut out and sewed and turned, but need to wait until Tues to get some stuffing to finish her--she is soooo cute!!! Got 2 mores bom's in applique ready to actually applique and decided on fabric for the Shabby roses bom and went outside and took some pictures and spend some time with Mary downstairs---Plus that "slave driver" was here again today--but she was here mostly to get phone calls from her family down south???????
Here's yesterdays other block for block 2 of "On The Heart":
And here is a flower picture:
It is time for the Iris to bloom here--these are such a pretty shade, my camera made me take their picture!!!!!

See ya tomorrow---BE careful---Hugs, Di

I GOT TO SEW--TODAY!!!!!

I am so "happy" I got to spend some unhurried time in my sewing room and some stitching time in my rocking chair today--YES !!!!!!!! I was home alone for most of the day ( the slave-driver did pop in for a little while this afternoon and we both needed to go to the store and we found a friend to run us there--but then she went on back home. I got this stitchery center piece done:
This is the Christmas Mice pattern from Cinderberry's--I used mostly the new thread--Cosmo's on it----and here is one of my blocks all done for the "On The Heart" bom:
It is hard to tell the difference here in this picture--but his/hers tail feathers are in Black and the ivy leaves are a dark olive green--I did my blocks in scraps and did needle turn applique on them--I have the second one all done as well, but didn't get it's picture yet, and the third one I am stitching on now. I also got the top back from the Quilt shop of embroidery that I am doing, I just do the embroider for her and the blocks had to be sewed together with fabric, then there is another row of embroidery going around the center panel--they had forgotten one more outer row of fabric--sewed that on and got the fabric rows sewed on and traced so I can work on embroidering it.

It is fun to finally be able to move around this place and to be able to work and not have to move a lot of stuff--extra baskets, totes, boxed up things--we had sitting here and there while we rearranged the furniture etc. Be sure to read my other post--as this story continues there????

Have a great and safe holiday weekend you all-------Hugs, Di

Mail Call!!!

I got two of my orders in today's mail--The first one was from "Carriage House Quilt Shop", It contained two pieces of fabrics for an applique project that I am looking for--the gold one is going to work--but the pink one is too peachy for me,plus I got two (more) patterns with that order--I will be ordering from them again--they had the order wrapped in pretty tissue paper with a neat gold label on it and they were very fast in getting it to me.

The second order was for more of the new Cosmo's thread--which YOU know I have said I JUST LOVE using--got 35 colors and a new pattern--again the order was sent very quickly--but nothing fancy--even though I paid a good deal in shipping cost for this and the envelope postage only stated that it cost under $2.00 to send it--this is the second time I have ordered from them--both times I do not get an invoice with my order--maybe this is my fault--maybe I am suppose to print the computer one off????? Soooooooooooooooo----Unfortunately there is only a couple quilt shops carrying the Cosmo"s thread right now and the other one I found doesn't have online ordering??? But my local shop might be carrying it soon--Let's HOPE!!!!

Well, here's a little picture of some color;
Have a great sunny day tomorrow and may everyone have a safe Holiday week-end--Di

What was I thinking?????

Last night while reading my E-mails I ran across the Carriage house quilt shop one and they were offering 20% off your whole order--so I had to check it out--- of course!!!!! I am glad I did--or I hope I will be glad when the order gets here in a few days--I believe I have finally found the right Pink plaid, and yellow plaid for a project I plan to do SOMEDAY??????? Now this was, OK, but then in shopping around the site, what did I do??????I ordered not one, but two more Patterns--I ask you WHY and I ask myself a big WHY???? I already have so many to do and sooo many I want to do----so I say again WHY??? Hey I know WHY--I need to spend that money to keep a quilt shop in business and so I won't spend it in the grocery store---YEP that sounds like a good answer to me --- what do you think????
Have a fantastic day and gets lots of sewing or gardening done--My "slave-driver" will be here tomorrow with her whip--but I am in hopes that we are getting to the end of organizing and we can get to the fun part--decorating?????? Just, silly, Di

A couple finishes???

Yesterday, was a quiet day here for once--No "slave driver"--so I was able to just putter around and do some of this and some of that???? After going down and getting Mary here tea and a visit, came home and just did some plain old housework first, then cleaned and found my work table in the quilt area--then I finished this bom for my door--the Tisket, the Tasket block:
And I got the Christmas Wish bom done:
And I got the V.Views bom done:
Plus I have all 3 blocks of the new "on my Heart" blocks in the applique--but I am going to wait until this next order of the Cosmos Thread comes in this week, before I do the embroidery on them--I have ordered 35 more colors and another Christmas block to do--this pattern is from Crabapple Hill co. Then today I got the First two block colored in with color pencil of the new series on the Internet of Missy Mack's blogspot site called "Stingy Barkfarm"---so I am working!!!

Take Care keep warm--no joke they are saying tonight's temp will be 27 degrees--OUCH--hard to believe--it's after the middle of May--must be the weather man can't read the calendar???? Warm Hugs, Di

My Workbasket Runneth over!!!

In stead of my cup runneth over--I have decided my workbasket is getting mighty "full" and is running over!!! there is way too many "cute" projects in to do -- but I am having a ball with them all--so guess that's all that counts????
Here is the other block I finished from Country Journal book:
This block had some stitching to it--but I really like how it came out>

For those of you who would like to know where I am ordering my Cosmos thread from it is:www. Thimblecreek.com--this company is in California and I had very fast service with them--4 days.
Wished I could start all my embroidery bom's over and use this thread--it will be hard to keep using the DMC thread on them--knowing how well the Cosmos thread works--but all future projects I will be using the new thread!!!!

Tune in to Quiltingisblissful to see my fabric "haul" for today???

Be a'stitching-----Hugs, Di

I AM IN LOVE!!!

This new LOVE will continue for ever and ever--I am truly addicted to this LOVE and can't wait to see more of it very very very soon!!!!!!!!

I am really in LOVE with the new Cosmos Embroidery Thread--I am telling you that if you haven't gotten any and tried this thread yet--you just must!!!!

I got my order of 8 colors a couple days ago and yesterday got the Christmas mice pattern ready to try it on--And it worked really nice--then today I went back to my old favorite brand to do one of my bom's for May--and I really wanted to "cry" there is a big difference in the way each thread works--can't wait to get more of the Cosmos thread and when I am done here I will be ordering more colors!!!!

Got the Christmas Wished block done and started the V. Views today -- the "slave driver" and I were both kinda wore out today so we just did a couple little jobs.

Be Good and also take a minute and order some new thread to try--Smiles, Di

I disobeyed??

My favorite "slave driver" left me with instructions to start cleaning my winter clothes out of my closet and getting the summer ones ready to go into the closet----BUT---MY STITCHING PROJECTS where crying--they so wanted me to get them traced, or fabrics picked out for their applique pieces--and I just could not stand the noise---sooooo----I gave in to them instead!!!
I did get another block finished last night on the Country Journal ones--this was the house--took it's picture this morning and some garden pictures--but some how my computer erased them from the camera--so I will re-take them tomorrow.

This morning I got the Christmas Mice pattern traced on to the background fabric, the Christmas wish Block 5 traced, and the Vernanada Views block 5 traced off and then I got Block 1,2 &3 of the On My Heart blocks fabrics for the applique and then the freezer paper patterns ironed on to the fabrics to start them--while I was doing them the "slave-driver" popped in early---oh my--I just put her to work helping finish picking the fabrics out--then had lunch and then=======WORK, WORK, WORK!!!!!!
So today's picture is one of the quilts from last month's quilt club:

Have a Fun day with your projects---til tomorrow--Just hard working--Di

A Day Off--Kinda!!!

My "slave-driver" decided as Tuesday is my friend Ann's day to come for while in the morning that we would go easy today. Ann came and I helped her load my "bags" of fabric that needed new home in her car--she makes alot of baby quilt's for our Christmas program give away here in town. Then Ann and I went and did alittle shopping--I had seen a fan at CVS I wanted--our store didn't have it in stock, but the manager said he could get me one. At Walmart I had another plant follow me home!!! Then we went out to lunch--so was a nice morning. This afternoon I had to get two giveaways wrapped and mailed--one to CA and one to Norway--then, as it was a nice day I walked them over to the Post office and mailed them and took some pictures on the way back.
I have gotten my Tisket Tasket block to this point:
I have to do the binding now--told "slave-sister" that I needed alittle time in the morning to get my quilt counter cleaned off--and a couple projects matched up and cut out and ready to do the applique or embroidery on them--soooooo--we will see--hopefully it will be quiet here so I can do that???
See the tackle box--
Now see all the buttons in the tackle box!!! This had been Sunday's job--now when a pattern calls for trim of buttons or I decide to trim a pattern with buttons--here they are and all in color groups--YES!!!

Keep stitching--Have a good day---Laughs, Di

Monday, May 11, 2009

I have touched them all!!!

I do believe my "slave-driver" of a sister has had me touch every piece of fabric I owned--whether it was a couple yards or just a 2x2" piece from my scrap bin----and I can say--I am a much lighter fabric alcoholic than before we started this project and there is a good thing I now have Internet and can go shopping on it--I did not tell the slave-driver, Barb, that I ordered more fabric on line last night!!!!!! Actually the ones I ordered last night are possibilities for the living room--we will see when they get here?????

Anyway there has been no time to sew today, that was for sure--maybe tomorrow????
OH OH nearly for got to tell you--I did get my order from "Thimble Creek" in Concord, CA with my Cinderberry Stitches Pattern "Christmas Mice" and 8 of the 10 Comos colors in it that I ordered to try!!! This is the Christmas project that I choose to start in my April goals--which I need to get updated and put May's goals down ( May's are written out)!!
Don't forget to enjoy the "sites" of spring----Just, Di

Mother's Day

I did get some stitching done today--even though that "slave-driver" of my sister was back again today????? I have most of the tisket-tasket basket for this month done--I only have the binding to do--but "my sister" has hidden my sewing machine on me--till all the organizing and cleaning is done!!!!! so I am only able to do handwork right now--BUT--I do manage to do that alittle each day!!!!
HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT DAY TODAY---BLESSINGS--DI

Some Started!!!

I did stay up long enough to get 3 applique projects, fabrics, picked out, freezer paper patterns traced and cut and ironed on the fabrics and the background fabrics ready. Then this morning before my "slave-driver" showed up, I got the patterns marked around and I even got one started:
Here's the start of this month's A tisket A tasket--now to work on the butterfly and the flowers.
Here is some pictures of some of the fabrics from Wednesday's shopping spree:
I am thinking of using this line for my Breast of Friends blocks--I have been wanting to do a project for along time in blues and yellows and I have just done 3 quilts in pink and greens--so am ready for something different:
This group is going in to my bedroom--the large roses will be a cushion for the new rocker I got the pink homespun plaid will be a dust ruffle and valance for the window--the other are to play with and will probably be pillows for the bed:
I got my order from Treasured Threads today in the mail, and I got these 3 patterns of B. Hayes and can't wait to find time to start them--I wonder where they are on my list of "want to makes"???
And talking about B.Hayes--I was also able to get these back issues of the Homespun Magazines that has her Christmas Redwork patterns--Can't wait to read these!!
And they also had the next two issues of Homespun for this year, so-----I got lots and lots of enjoyable reading to do this week-end--Oh dear--forgot my "slave-driver" will be here again tomorrow---You should of seen us today--I got 4 plastic 5 drawer cabinets (clear) and 2 sets of 3 large drawer cabinets for my bedroom closet to sort and store all my fabrics--and then "she" had me sortin and bagging up fabrics that I would like to get rid of-----who is trying to kid---who really wants to ever get rid of fabric--even if some of it I have had since "day 1"?????????
But I did well and I did get rid of alot of older fabrics--(so now I can go shopping one day soon????)

Happy stitching---Hugs, Di

Thursday, May 7, 2009

No time today????

Oh Dear--there has really been no time to do any stitching today and I have soooo many projects that I want to do--a few of my regular BOM are ready for May and I want to do them and then there is the couple new ones I have found on the Internet and want to do--but--my "slave-driver" is coming every day and putting me to work on moving furniture and sorting things and then by the time she leaves it time for Blogging -- so what is a Quilter to do??????

But I guess if a Quilter Bee's house is not in order--she would not be able to do as neat as a job as she should--RIGHT?????

"She" even is making me sort my fabric stash and get rid of some--she can be such a "meany"--but then I have decided that if my stash gets too low--there is always a fabric sale some where's---in fact next Friday, a girlfriend and I already have a date to go to a nice sale about an hour from here--can't wait--Oh, you say you just read that I purchased a lot of fabric only yesterday--well--I did --- but that fabric has been named for certain projects==this trip will be just so some fabric can follow me home!!!!!

See ya tomorrow--Happy Stitching---Laughs , Di

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

A Project is done!!

I did get the last Redwork block done and I did get them delivered to the Quilt Shop today and I did spend all my credit and then some????????
So now I have just one more project for the Shop, but this one will probably wait alittle, yet!!!
Today's fabrics where some for my bedroom that my sister and I are redoing, and I finally decided on the fabrics for the Breast of Friends blocks from the Homespun Magazine and I got the background fabric for the latest BOM I am doing--But my sister says I can't sew for awhile as we need to do the work on the bedroom first--sooooo--but hey--when I am ready to sew I have the fabrics to start with--RIGHT????
I also did some orders on the Internet last night. One was my Christmas one--and I also ordered 10 colors of the Cosmos thread everyone is talking about to do it in. Can't wait!! And one of the company's is out of AU and is for some wool plaids, etc. and another line of threads I have heard alot about--so we will see????????????????/////

I did have "two" good Birthday days--
Have a great Day yourself and see ya soon--have alot of pictures yet to show you!! WISHES, Di

WHERE DID IT GO????

Where are the days, where I could quilt all day long?????? It seems most days lately if I get to quilt for an hour I am lucky and it's not even because I am doing outside work--it just seems as though I am on the "go" every day--going someplace, helping someone, cleaning(yet this apartment is messier than ever--I believe!!)--and ways you get the picture--the only thing that has not slowed down, I believe is finding projects I want to make and buying some fabric for those projects-----soooooo-------???????

I found another BOM that I am really crazy about:tozzscorner.blogspot.com--check her out!!
Saturday I did get to JoAnn's and we found some more beads to make the necklace handle on the
shell purse--Here's what I have collected so far:
And here is the purse--remember it??? And I even got all the beads sorted and in a nice organizer--now if the "necklace making fairy would just show up, this project would get finished"!!
While at JoAnn's I discovered that the button line, Simple Finding, was on for 1/2 price, so these packages of buttons jumped into my cart:
And these shaped buttons jumped in to--they didn't want to be left behind:
I love heart shaped and star shaped buttons and when I need them, I never seem to be able to find them--sooooooo!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME ON MAY 6TH

Have a great day too-----Just, Di
